Looking for a Uhmegle alternative? For people who arrived after Omegle closed.
Uhmegle alternative searches usually come from people who used Omegle, went looking for a replacement afterwards, and are still comparing options. This page describes what Shedo Chat offers that group specifically. Shedo Chat is an independent random video chat platform. It has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with Uhmegle, and Uhmegle is a trademark of its respective owner, referenced here only so you can compare.
The familiar part
One stranger at a time, live video, text beside it, and a skip button. No profiles, no feeds and no followers.
The parts that are different
Camera blur, tracked face effects, interest matching, private messages after a mutual ID exchange, and live audio Rooms — features that did not exist in the original format.
- Blur and effects available before the first call
- Interests instead of typed topic tags alone
- Optional account for messages, Rooms and saved settings
Safety expectations
Adults only, published guidelines, automated checks, and report and block in the call controls. The gaps that made the original format hard to moderate are the ones we take most seriously.
Cost
Free for random video chat with no account and no payment details. Premium is optional and covers matching preferences and unlimited game plays.
Where to start
Open the home page, allow camera and microphone, choose an effect or blur if you want one, and press Start Video Chat.
