One-on-one video chat: two people, one conversation.
One-on-one video chat is the opposite of broadcasting. There is no audience, no comment stream and no room full of spectators — just two people on a live call that ends when either of them leaves.
Why two people, not a crowd
A two-person call changes how people talk. Nobody is performing for an audience, turn-taking is natural, and there is no incentive to be loud to be noticed.
How a call is set up
The two devices connect directly to each other where the network allows it, with a relay used only when a direct route is blocked. Media is not stored on our servers.
Both faces at a usable size
On desktops the two feeds sit side by side at equal size; on phones they stack vertically. Neither person is shrunk into a corner thumbnail.
Controls that stay with you
Mute, camera blur, face effects, in-call text, report, block and stop are all available throughout the call, and blocking asks for confirmation first.
Random or invited
You can be matched with a stranger from the queue, or send a call invitation to someone you already talk to on Shedo Chat.
When two is not enough
Live audio Rooms exist for group conversation, with a host, invited speakers and listeners. They are a separate format, not a change to one-on-one calls.
Common questions
- Can anyone else join a one-on-one call?
- No. A one-on-one call is limited to the two participants.
- Is one-on-one video chat free?
- Yes. Random one-on-one calling is free and does not require an account.
- Can I call someone specific?
- Yes, if you have exchanged Shedo IDs. You can then invite that person to a call directly.
